Experience a unique approach to discover the World Heritage Site on this 3-day tour that combines cycling, trekking, and cruising. From Hanoi, you may see the breathtaking grandeur of Halong Bay, visit unknown fishing towns in the Gulf of Tonkin, and explore the mountainous Cat Ba Island.
Ride through several rural villages, board a private junk floating on turquoise sea to see countless limestone islands and caverns of all sizes and forms, and take in the breathtaking scenery that you have never seen before on Earth.
Why settle for a standard cruise when you can conquer the coast on two wheels? The Cycling Adventure: Exploring Halong Bay and Cat Ba Island is a 3-day multi-activity odyssey that shatters the "sit-and-see" tour mold. Designed for active travelers, nature enthusiasts, and photography buffs, this journey takes you from the winding river dikes of Bac Ninh to the limestone peaks of a UNESCO World Heritage site.
This is a "Land-to-Sea" transition like no other. You will pedal through the golden-green rice paddies of the Red River Delta, cruise through the silent karsts of Halong Bay, and navigate the primeval jungle roads of Cat Ba National Park. It is a high-octane blend of cycling, kayaking, and trekking that ensures you don't just visit Northern Vietnam—you pulse with its rhythm.
The Bac Ninh Heritage Dike Ride
Your adventure begins not on the water, but on the historic dikes of the Duong River. Cycling through Bac Ninh province allows you to bypass the highway and witness the "Cradle of Vietnamese Civilization." You’ll pass ancient pagodas and traditional villages where the traffic is dominated by water buffalo rather than motorbikes, offering an authentic, high-sensory introduction to rural life.
Halong Bay & Lan Ha Bay Navigation
Board a traditional boat to navigate the emerald labyrinth of the Gulf of Tonkin. While others stick to the crowded "Heritage Route," our itinerary pushes into the quieter corners of Lan Ha Bay. The transition from the bike to the kayak allows you to glide through low-hanging sea caves and hidden lagoons, reaching mirror-like waters where the only sound is the rhythmic dip of your paddle.
Cat Ba Jungle & Seaside Pedaling
Cat Ba Island is a rugged paradise where the forest meets the sea. You will cycle the scenic seaside roads with panoramic ocean views on one side and towering limestone cliffs on the other. The journey takes you deep into the Cat Ba National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Here, the air is cooler, the canopy is dense, and the cycling becomes a true exploration of Vietnam's wild biodiversity.

How difficult is the terrain? The routes are a mix of flat river dikes and undulating paved roads on Cat Ba Island. There are some moderate climbs on the island, but the support van is always nearby if you need a break.
Is it safe to cycle in Vietnam's traffic? We specifically choose back-roads, dikes, and island paths that avoid the heavy traffic of the main highways. Your safety is our priority, and your guide will lead the way to ensure proper lane discipline.
What if I'm not a strong kayaker? The waters in Lan Ha Bay are very calm and protected. We use stable sit-on-top or cockpitted kayaks, and your guide will provide a full safety briefing and paddling lesson before we hit the water.
