Renowned as one of the key locations in the Hollywood blockbuster Kong: Skull Island, the Tu Lan cave system has become a captivating tourist attraction for adventure seekers looking for a unique experience in Vietnam. On this private Tu Lan day tour, you will trek approximately 9 km through fields and jungle paths and swim 50 m through a river cave.
This tour is suitable for anyone who is physically fit or has limited outdoor experience. Accompanied by your professional guide and local men from the Tan Hoa ethnic village, you will venture into the heart of the cave system to visit Hung Ton Cave, To Mo Valley, and Hang Chuot. Each cave boasts its own unique beauty, and as you stand surrounded by limestone, stalactites, sand, and water, you will be awestruck by the wonders of nature.
Enjoy a full day of adventure in Tu Lan, an experience unlike any other in Vietnam.
Dive into the wild, raw heart of Vietnam’s "Cave Kingdom" with the Experience Tu Lan Cave in One Day. This 11-hour expedition is a high-octane immersion designed specifically for adrenaline seekers, active explorers, and "Kong" fans who want to experience the prehistoric landscapes of the Tu Lan Cave System. Located just outside the national park, this area remains remarkably untouched, offering a "tasting menu" of the region's most dramatic features: sweeping buffalo fields, dense jungle, and mysterious underground river caves.
This is a high-sensory journey where you will trade paved boardwalks for muddy trails and headlamps. You’ll feel the cool rush of an underground river against your skin, witness the colossal scale of the cave mouths used as filming locations for Kong: Skull Island, and enjoy a rustic BBQ lunch beside a hidden valley waterfall. It’s an intensive, single-day challenge that captures the primal essence of the Quang Binh wilderness.
The "Kong" Portal: Hang Chuot (Rat Cave)
Your expedition begins at the massive entrance of Hang Chuot, stretching nearly 70 meters wide. This spectacular dry cave served as a primary filming location for the lair of Kong, and standing at its mouth feels like stepping back into a prehistoric era. You will explore 300 meters of dry passages filled with unique "heart-shaped" ceiling structures and intricate stalactites that glitter under your headlamp, all while overlooking the emerald Tan Hoa Valley.
The Two-Story Challenge: Hung Ton Cave
Hung Ton Cave offers a masterclass in Tu Lan’s dual nature. You will first explore a high, fossilized dry passage where you can see ancient cave pearls and million-year-old marine fossils. The adventure then shifts as you descend a 15-meter safety ladder into the "wet" portion of the cave. This transition from trekking to swimming marks the true heart of the expedition, as you navigate the dark river passage that tunnels through the mountain.
Hidden Oasis: To Mo Valley
Emerge from the darkness of the cave into the sun-drenched sanctuary of To Mo Valley. This secluded pocket of paradise is accessible only by trekking or swimming through the mountain. Here, you will enjoy a well-earned jungle BBQ lunch prepared by local porters. The valley features a stunning natural waterfall and a crystal-blue lake, offering the perfect "refreshing finale" where you can swim and relax before the return trek.

What if I am not a strong swimmer? You will be wearing a high-buoyancy life jacket at all times in the water. Our safety assistants are also in the water with you to guide and assist. If you are extremely uncomfortable, please notify us in advance.
Can I wear my own shoes? Yes, provided they have very good grip for slippery rocks and can drain water quickly. We do not recommend Gore-Tex or waterproof boots as they trap water and become heavy. We can provide basic canvas trekking boots if needed.
Is the ladder climb scary? The 15-meter ladder in Hung Ton Cave is professionally secured with safety ropes and harnesses. Our safety team operates the belay system, so you are always protected against a fall.
